Founder & Director, Audio and Voice
Peter Cooney is the founder of SAR Insight & Consulting. Peter has been tracking, analyzing and commenting on technology markets for over 15 years. In that time he has headed practices at a number of leading analyst firms, managing teams of analysts across the world.
Peter has covered a diverse range of markets including audio, MEMS sensors, microprocessors, and wireless connectivity ICs. Most recently he has focused on the emerging and rapidly growing markets for voice interface technlogies and virtual digital assistants.
Peter is regularly quoted in the press and has serviced a wide range of clients including most of the top 20 largest semiconductor companies and many others, including numerous citations in client press releases as an industry expert.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Sheffield, his intial career was as a process engineer, responsible for the PVD process for production of DRAM for a major electronics company.
Joe is Director, Machinomics research at SAR, charting the emerging strategies and shifting value chains of The Machine Economy. Joe crafts his unique research with a perspective gained from sitting on all sides of the strategy table: engineer, product manager, strategic marketer, and most recently, industry analyst. Having actually developed and shipped technology products, he digs deep to find insights and forecasts to guide product and market strategies.
Current research focuses on the upstream parts of the Sense, Connect, Analyze, and Act value chains of the IoT and anticipates the evolution into The Machine Economy. In addition to the syndicated Machinomics research, Joe also assists technology and strategy executives with product and market consultation.
Joe holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, an M.S. in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and an MBA from Arizona State University. His career includes sprints at IBM, Lockheed-Martin, Motorola, and Nokia.
Director of Wireless and Mobile Connectivity
Phil Solis is the Director of Wireless and Mobile Connectivity at SAR Insight & Consulting, covering Wi-Fi, WiGig, Bluetooth, ZigBee, NFC, and GNSS, 5G and LPWAN.
Phil has been tracking, analyzing and commenting on technology markets for over 14 years. He is the most well-recognized and sought-after industry analyst around Wi-Fi. He also wrote the industry’s first in-depth 5G report over three years ago when few people knew what 5G would look like. In the past, Phil has covered a diverse array of topics outside of connectivity, from application processors to robotics.
Phil has been widely quoted in the press, including in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Business Week, the BBC, and EE Times, and has been cited in the press releases of many clients. He has participated as a keynote speaker, speaker, moderator, and panelist at many different trade shows and conferences.
He holds an MBA in Marketing and Information Systems from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Stony Brook University. Phil also worked in the telecommunications industry for 8 years at Verizon as an engineer and a sales engineer.
Director, Sales & Strategy
Steve has been in the research advisory business for 18 years and has held most every sales and client success role during that time.
He has worked for a well-known New York based wireless connectivity focused analyst firm as well as others focused on big data analytics in San Francisco and future technologies in Washington DC. In between those experiences, he has spent time in a number of enterprise end user focused technology vendors and service providers.
Steve currently resides in the Hudson Valley of New York where he can often be found hiking and supporting area non-profit organizations focused on communications and emergency resiliency.
Dennis Goldenson is currently a strategic consultant with SAR Insight and Consulting focusing on voice user interface technology, providing market insights on the latest voice assistant platforms and hardware equipment.
Dennis has over twenty years of consumer research and market intelligence experience across a broad range of entertainment and technology industries including having worked for major motion picture studios including both the Walt Disney Company and Twentieth Century Fox where he has held numerous senior level research and analytical roles on a global scale. Dennis has managed and conducted numerous international studies including A&U, brand equity, product concept, and UX research projects that have provided critical insights for senior management in the decision-making process. Most recently he was Senior Director of Research and Consumer Insights for DTS, an audio technology company where he worked for over 10 years.
Dennis provides a wealth of knowledge in designing and delivering innovative research methods and market intelligence reports that produce measurable results. His exceptional analytical and strategic skills have been instrumental in driving marketing effectiveness and business performance.
Dennis earned a Master Degree in International Management from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts.
In his free time, Dennis loves to spend time with his family, play with the latest consumer technology gadgets and listens to the latest streaming music services when he’s not interrupted by his children (or the dog).
